Repairing Your Roof

If you have a damaged roof or missing roof tiles, wind and rain can get into the structure of your home and quickly cause many problems. Repairing structural damage is ultimately much more expensive than just replacing the roof. If you do not make roof repairs at the first sign of damage, rot can begin and lead to expensive damage in just a years time.

To prevent any expensive repairs, make sure you give your roof a regular checkup. When examining your roof, you may discover you only need to replace one or two shingles or you may have to make a major repair. On a regular basis, it is a good idea to check your home and see if these roof and other exterior repairs should be done:

Roof Repair Checklist:

  • Replacing missing or cracked roof tiles
  • Clean or repair clogged or damaged gutters
  • Re-painting
  • Remove birds’ nests
  • Re-pointing chimneys
  • Repairing or replacing flashing round chimney stacks
  • Repairing bargeboards
  • Repairing dislodged coping tiles or missing mortar
  • Repairing seals that are not intact around windows set into your roof
  • Repairing slipped roof tiles

If you find that you have more than one roof or exterior repair that needs to be done, it may make more sense to get them all done at the same time rather than multiplying the cost with repeated scaffolding fees and other repair charges. Save yourself money by keeping your roof up to date.
